Terms of service

These terms apply when you ask us for a quote or buy a custom website or app from OurApp.

Last updated: 15 October 2026

1. Who we are

OurApp is a service of MB Computers, a business run by Matthew Brown as a sole trader in Scotland, UK (mbc.scot), [ADDRESS]. [COMPANY NUMBER / VAT NUMBER IF APPLICABLE] Contact: matthew@mbc.scot.

2. What we provide

We build and host custom web apps based on our products: lottery syndicate sites (OurLotto), step challenge sites (OurSteps) and family dashboards, plus bespoke features. What’s included, the price and any timescales will be set out in the quote or order we agree with you. If a product has its own terms (for example OurLotto or OurSteps), those also apply to your use of it.

3. Enquiries and quotes

Sending an enquiry doesn’t commit you to anything. A contract starts only when you accept our quote or place an order. Quotes are valid for 30 days.

4. Accounts

Where your app has logins, keep passwords private and tell us about any unauthorised use. You’re responsible for the people you invite and the content you or they add.

5. Fees, renewals and payment

  • Prices are shown on our site or in your quote, and include [VAT / no VAT: MB Computers is not VAT registered]. One-off extras (for example custom domains or bespoke features) are quoted separately, from £25.
  • Subscriptions (monthly or yearly) are paid in advance and renew automatically until you cancel. Free trial periods convert to paid unless you cancel before they end; we’ll remind you first.
  • We invoice through our billing portal; card payments are processed by our payment provider. If a payment is overdue we may suspend the service after giving you notice.
  • We’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice of any price change, and you can cancel before it applies.

6. Cancellation and refunds

14-day cooling-off period. If you’re a consumer, you can cancel within 14 days of your order for a full refund. If you asked us to start work during that time, we may deduct a fair amount for work already done. Bespoke work made to your own specification may not be refundable once completed, as the law allows.

After that, you can cancel a subscription at any time; it will end at the end of the period you’ve paid for, with no further charges. We don’t normally refund part-periods unless we’re at fault.

Your legal rights. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 our services and digital content must be provided with reasonable care and skill, be as described and fit for purpose. If they aren’t, we’ll fix them or, if we can’t, give you an appropriate refund. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

When a service ends we’ll keep your data for [30] days so you can ask for a copy, then delete it.

7. Acceptable use

You must not use anything we build or host to break the law, to run unlicensed gambling, lotteries or prize draws, to send spam, to harass anyone, to upload unlawful or infringing content, or to attack or overload our systems. We may suspend a service that does.

8. Your content and data

You own your content and your branding. You give us permission to use it only to provide the service. If your app processes other people’s personal data (for example members of your club), you are the controller for that data and we process it on your behalf under a data processing agreement [ATTACH / LINK DPA]. See our privacy notice.

9. Intellectual property

We keep the rights in our software and products; you get the right to use them for as long as you subscribe. Bespoke work is covered by your quote.

10. Our liability

  • We’re responsible for foreseeable loss caused by our breach of these terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill.
  • For business customers, we aren’t liable for loss of profit, revenue, business or data, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
  • We can’t guarantee uninterrupted service, and we aren’t responsible for third-party services outside our control (for example domain registries or app stores).
  • Nothing limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that can’t legally be limited.

11. Changes

We may update these terms; we’ll change the date above and tell existing customers about important changes at least 30 days in advance.

12. Law

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland and disputes can be taken to the Scottish courts. Consumers elsewhere in the UK can also use their local courts.
